Data Explorer

An Overview of Data Explorer: Features and Enhanced User Experience

Data Explorer is a robust tool designed to provide users with comprehensive access to transaction data within the Data Warehouse. With its capacity to display up to 100,000 transactions per module, the platform empowers users—particularly those with admin access—to efficiently navigate, filter, and manage large datasets.

Viewing and Navigating Data

Upon accessing Data Explorer, users can see their General Ledger data on the main screen. The display is organized into configurable pages, allowing users to specify the number of rows they wish to view per page and change the filters of the dataset. With the updated experience, users can now configure the number of rows per page to 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 50,000, or even 100,000, offering greater flexibility based on the scope of their analysis.

Filtering and Searching Transactions

Data Explorer’s filtering capabilities are intuitive and robust. Users can filter displayed transactions by dragging and dropping column headers into the filter area, then inputting specific dimension or field codes as filter values through search. The filters tab now opens automatically, streamlining the process and offering quick access to common filters, such as filtering by the current period. Notably, filter values are no longer case-sensitive, further simplifying the filtering process.

Managing Data Efficiently

Several key actions can be performed on the displayed data:

  • Refresh: Applies any created filters to update the displayed data. The button is enabled only when a filter and a corresponding value are present.
  • Reset: Clears all filters, reverting the display to the default view of the 10,000 most recent transactions.
  • Select All: Selects all transactions on the current page, streamlining bulk actions such as deletion.
  • Delete: Removes selected transactions from the Data Warehouse.

Enhanced User Experience

Recent updates to Data Explorer have further improved usability and performance:

  • The module now loads the first 10,000 rows of data by default for quicker access.
  • Automatic opening of the filters tab encourages users to apply relevant filters immediately.
  • Paging support enables seamless navigation through large datasets, with the ability to view all filtered data within a module.
  • Columns now auto-size to a set limit, making data easier to view without manual adjustments.

Access and Security

It is important to note that Data Explorer provides access to all data within the Data Warehouse and is intended for users with administrative privileges. This ensures that sensitive data is managed only by authorized personnel.
